Canopy Curriculum
At Canopy we look at the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage through the eyes of children to develop a truly engaging curriculum. It is a blended approach based on aspects of the Reggio Emilia pedagogy which views young children as individuals who are curious about their world and have the powerful potential to learn from all that surrounds them.
We listen to the children and their families to understand their individual interests and needs. Combined with a knowledge of what excites and challenges children at different stages of their development, we then plan and deliver a curriculum which engages each child and harnesses their natural curiosity
Canopy Habitat
The classroom is often referred to as the ‘third teacher’ and great care is taken to construct an enabling environment that supports the curriculum and allows children to explore, challenge themselves and constantly discover new ways to play.
Indoor and outdoor areas flow, encouraging discovery and play outside in the natural world where children enjoy being louder, faster and messier!
We particularly love trees which you will notice appear regularly in our communication and in our nurseries. We love them so much that we have partnered with Ecologi to plant a tree per month for every child who attends a Canopy Children’s nursery.
Healthy Lifestyles
In order to thrive, children need to be able to eat, sleep and exercise well with the support and guidance of caring adults. During their day at Canopy, children will sit down together for freshly prepared organic meals and snacks, relax in a quiet, comfortable environment to rest/sleep and will learn new ways to challenge their physical development through a varied programme of movement and exercise to build strength and stability.
Keeping your children safe
The safety and security of the children in our care is always the number one priority and is rigorously enforced via state-of-the-art security systems, risk assessments, regular health and safety audits as well as strict adherence to our nursery policies. Below is a link to the Canopy Safeguarding policy.
We believe that it is important for a child to be given opportunities to test their limits and take some risks as part of their physical and emotional development. So we provide these opportunities but ensure that they are carefully monitored and supervised.
Canopy Children’s Nurseries accept local authority funding in the form of 15 or 30 hours of free childcare. This funding is deducted from the cost of a full Canopy day but does not cover our provision in full so a supplement is payable for additional services.
