Introducing Canopy Shrewsbury
Canopy Shrewsbury is located in the large, characterful building and extensive grounds of the former Four Crosses Inn near Bicton, conveniently situated for parents who live or work in the Shrewsbury area.
Following an extensive refurbishment programme, we opened our doors to our first cohort of babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers in April 2022.

Here are some images of our fantastic child-friendly space, complete with its own Indoor Discovery Garden. It is designed to be light, airy and spacious with free-flowing access to the outside space.
The Orchard provides parents with an on-site work space and community hub.

Canopy Nursery Uniform
We are excited to introduce our charming nursery t-shirts.
Each room at our nursery has been assigned a unique colour for their t-shirts, creating a visual identity that helps differentiate the age groups and fosters a sense of belonging.
Here are the colours associated with each room:
- Soft Yellow: Pippins, Our Baby Room
- Sage Green: Rising Twos
- Mint green: Braeburn, Our Toddler Room
- Sky Blue: Russets, Our Pre-school Room
These t-shirts are ethically sourced, aligning with our values of promoting a sustainable future.
These soothing shades have been carefully selected to reflect the nurturing environment we provide at our nursery.
The t-shirts are made from soft and comfortable fabric, ensuring that your child feels cozy throughout their day with us.

We are building a dedicated team of highly skilled childcare practitioners who are establishing a culture of excellence and pride in their contribution to our community.
Availabilty
Canopy Children’s Nurseries welcome babies and young children from birth until they start school. The nursery is organised into 3 distinct environments to enable age-appropriate development:
- Pippin: Babies from birth to two years old
- Braeburn: Toddlers from two to three years old
- Russet: Preschool children from three to four years old

Opening Times
The nursery is open for 51 weeks per year, closing for 1 week between Christmas and New Year. Parents choose a weekly schedule which can comprise any combination of the following sessions:
Full days: 7.30am – 6pm
Short days: 8.30am – 3.30pm
Mornings: 7.30am – 1.00pm
Afternoons: 1.00pm – 6pm
We also offer drop in sessions on Mondays and Fridays which can be booked on a week to week basis. These 2 hour sessions are available at 9.30am-11.30am and 1.30pm-3.30pm.
Fees
Fees are fully inclusive of meals, drinks and snacks.
We ask parents to supply nappies and formula/breast milk only.
Canopy Code
Canopy Code is the curriculum we embrace in every canopy Nursery. Put simply, its the skills and behaviours we want children to learn to make them equipped and ready for their next steps. We want our children to be curious explorers, confident communicators, independent learners and inquisitive thinkers. With these skills firmly embedded, they will be fully equipped and ready for the next step into ‘big school’.
Canopy Cares
Canopy Cares sits alongside the Canopy Code to purposefully cultivate a culture of sustainability and appreciation for the living world. Quite simply, our ethos is caring for each other and the world we live in. We teach children tolerance, respect, and kindness along with a sense of understanding and responsibility for our beautiful planet.
Children are actively involved in caring for the environment and our nurseries have eco committees to help children think about their impact on the natural world.
Payments
Fees are payable monthly in advance. Customers will be required to set up a direct debit which will automatically collect their fees on the 1st of every month.
A registration fee of £100 is payable to secure your child’s place.
Canopy accepts childcare vouchers and tax free childcare payments.
Canopy Children’s Nurseries accept local authority funding in the form of 15 or 30 hours of free childcare. This does not cover our services in full so a supplement is still payable for additional services.

Canopy Children’s Nursery Shrewsbury is a day nursery which provides day care and childcare for babies, toddlers and preschool children. The pre-school provides similar care and education to a kindergarten, Montessori school or school nursery in the foundation stage. If you are looking for pre school places or day care in Shrewsbury or further afield in Shropshire, then we would love to hear from you.
The Orchard
Whilst most of our environment is dedicated to the children, The Orchard has been designed with their parents in mind. It provides a space where parents can sit and work, meet up with others or just take a few minutes out of their busy day to relax with a cup of a coffee.
Although it is particularly convenient for our customers, we welcome members of the wider community and are happy to make it available for a variety of community events.
