We are delighted to announce that Canopy Children’s Nursery is coming to Potters Bar!
It is due to open in Summer 2024 in the former ‘The Green Man’ public house, following an exciting programme of refurbishment.
As a Grade II listed building with Historic England, we will work to retain its unique character and period features for the next generation.

See Our Habitat

A familiar landmark in Potters Bar, this building will soon start a new chapter in its life and contribution to the local community.  Planning is underway to divide the ground floor into 3 large, airy and spacious nursery rooms whilst taking advantage of historic features such as the enormous fireplaces.   As the project gets underway, we will share more images of our plans and progress with you.

    Availability

    Canopy Children’s Nurseries welcome babies and young children from birth until they start school.  The nursery is organised into 3 distinct environments to enable age-appropriate development.

    The rooms are named after flourishing woodland flora native to Potters Bar:

    Primrose:    Babies from birth to 2 years old

    Willow:         Toddlers from 2 to 3 years old

    Bluebell:      Pre-school children from 3 to 4 years old

    Fees

    Fees are fully inclusive of meals, drinks and snacks.

    We ask parents to supply nappies and formula/breast milk only.

    Opening Times

    The nursery will be open for 51 weeks per year, closing for 1 week between Christmas and New Year.  Parents choose a weekly schedule which can comprise any combination of the following sessions:

    Full days:        7.30am – 6.30pm

    Mornings:       7.30am – 1pm

    Afternoons:    1pm – 6.30pm

    School Days:  8.30am – 3.30pm

    We will also offer drop-in sessions which can be booked on an ad-hoc basis.  These 2 hour sessions are available at 9.30am – 11.30am and 2.30pm – 4.30pm

    Canopy Code

    Canopy Code is the curriculum we embrace in every canopy Nursery. Put simply, its the skills and behaviours we want children to learn to make them equipped and ready for their next steps. We want our children to be curious explorers, confident communicators, independent learners and inquisitive thinkers. With these skills firmly embedded, they will be fully equipped and ready for the next step into ‘big school’.

    Canopy Cares sits alongside the Canopy Code to purposefully cultivate a culture of sustainability and appreciation for the living world. Quite simply, our ethos is caring for each other and the world we live in. We teach children tolerance, respect, and kindness along with a sense of understanding and responsibility for our beautiful planet.

    Children are actively involved in caring for the environment and our nurseries have eco committees to help children think about their impact on the natural world.
