We are thrilled to announce that Canopy Children’s Nursery is now open in Potters Bar!

The nursery has opened its doors in the former ‘The Green Man’ public house, following an exciting refurbishment program.

As a Grade II listed building with Historic England, we are committed to preserving its unique character and period features for future generations.

A familiar landmark in Potters Bar, this building has started a new chapter in its life and contribution to the local community.  The ground floor has been divided into 3 large, airy and spacious nursery rooms whilst taking advantage of historic features such as the enormous fireplaces.

    Opening Times

    The nursery will be open for 51 weeks per year, closing for 1 week between Christmas and New Year.  Parents choose a weekly schedule which can comprise any combination of the following sessions:

    Full days:        7.30am – 6.30pm

    Mornings:       7.30am – 1pm

    Afternoons:    1pm – 6.30pm

    School Days:  8.30am – 3.30pm

    We will also offer drop-in sessions which can be booked on an ad-hoc basis.  These 2 hour sessions are available at 9.30am – 11.30am and 2.30pm – 4.30pm

    Availability

    Canopy Children’s Nurseries welcome babies and young children from birth until they start school.  The nursery is organised into 3 distinct environments to enable age-appropriate development.

    The rooms are named after flourishing woodland flora native to Potters Bar:

    Primrose:          Babies from birth to 18 months

    Buttercups:      Babies from 18 months to 2 years old

    Willows:             Toddlers from 2 to 3 years old

    Bluebells:          Pre-school children from 3 to 4 years old

    Please note: Transitions are based primarily on each child’s confidence, independence and developmental readiness, rather than age alone.

    Fees

    Fees are fully inclusive of meals, drinks and snacks.

    We ask parents to supply nappies and formula/breast milk only.

    Canopy Code

    Canopy Code is the curriculum we embrace in every canopy Nursery. Put simply, its the skills and behaviours we want children to learn to make them equipped and ready for their next steps. We want our children to be curious explorers, confident communicators, independent learners and inquisitive thinkers. With these skills firmly embedded, they will be fully equipped and ready for the next step into ‘big school’.

    Canopy Cares sits alongside the Canopy Code to purposefully cultivate a culture of sustainability and appreciation for the living world. Quite simply, our ethos is caring for each other and the world we live in. We teach children tolerance, respect, and kindness along with a sense of understanding and responsibility for our beautiful planet.

    Children are actively involved in caring for the environment and our nurseries have eco committees to help children think about their impact on the natural world.

    Canopy Cooks

    At Canopy Potters Bar, our dedicated cook prepares fresh home cooked meals every day so children enjoy food that feels warm and comforting. The menu offers balanced dishes that support healthy growth and may include seasonal changes through the year. Mealtimes are a treasured part of the day and we use them to build confidence independence and a love of sharing food together.

    Payments

     

    Fees are payable monthly in advance. Customers will be required to set up a direct debit which will automatically collect their fees on the 1st of every month.

    A deposit of £150 is payable to secure your child’s place which will be returned when they leave the nursery.
    A non-refundable registration fee of £150 is payable when registering and reserving your place.

     

    Canopy accepts childcare vouchers and tax free childcare payments.

     

    Canopy Children’s Nurseries accept local authority funding for eligible children in the form of 15 or 30 hours of funded childcare for 38 weeks of the year.

    An additional fee is payable for the provision of food, extra-curricular activities and other consumables that are not covered by the funding.
